Where are you?

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. My husband was home for two weeks which made a great vacation for both of us. But now that he is back at work, and I can get back to my 'normal' (ha ha) routine, I'll be giving this blog more attention. We're going to be doing some give-aways again so keep your attention peeled here!

For now though,

...ever forward, War and Peace continues.

Where are you guys?

I am just about to finish Volume 2 - which is at about page 600. Patches, the passage quote at the end of Volume 2 for me is: "It seemed to Pierre that this star answered fully to what was in his softened and encouraged soul, now blossoming into new life."

If you guys are near this or past it, let's plan to discuss that section tomorrow. If not, we'll figure out a target date.

Let's keep pushing and reading.

Maggie, will you still love me if i tell you that i cannot make myself read any more of War and Peace????

I got in about 400 pages, put the book down and am unable to resume. I read this one in high school and i liked it then, but now i find the people somewhat insufferable.

I started on Truck though, if that helps you like me again.

I'm on page 550. I needed a break so I picked up Son of a Witch for now. I'm not sure how long before I can or if I will continue. Like meno said the characters are soooo shallow, I've become disgusted with them.

Oh I still love you guys. De, are you around? I suspect you are the last person who was reading the book besides me. So if you don't want to continue, we could call this one a dud and move on. I can always finish it in my own time. I understand what you mean about the characters. I keep thinking there's got to be more, that I'm missing something. But I'm also being propelled through it, maybe because I've never read it before and despite the lack of substance in the characters, the action seems to move quickly. Anyhow, I understand what you guys are saying and this once, I will forgive you. (I'm just kidding, I'd never be mad at you).

Note: if anyone else out there has been reading silently and hasn't piped up, now is the time to do so. Let me know if you're reading and want to continue.

I confess I have not been reading - not War and Peace or anything. I am unsure if it's because I'm not interested or just haven't had the time.

So, let's move on.

Ok, as long as I don't hear from anyone else by the end of the day begging me to keep War and Peace on the menu, I will announce that we are dropping it first thing in the morning and to begin immediately reading Truck. Meno, you're ahead of us. :)

Thanks guys for your input and patience with this behemoth.
